The LSSC Lions Recycle for Sight (LRS), Gift of Sight (GOS) Team embarked on its 3rd goodwill mission to Ben Tre Province, Vietnam, from 7 to 11 October 2016 to provide free eye screening and free prescribed and reading glasses to the needy villagers. Its mission was to make a difference in the lives of the villagers by giving them better vision.

The team led by Lion Eric Koh, comprising 30 Lions and non Lions and 5 optometrists, in collaboration with 35 local volunteers from Ben Tre Friendship Union Organization, Forever Green Resort, HCMC Hospital of Medicine and Pharmacy, University of Pham Ngoc Thach Optometry Department and Ben Tre Health Department, successfully conducted the vision screening on 1,364 villagers at Ben Tre Province, Vietnam, on 8 and 9 October 2016.

766 villagers received new spectacles, 193 would receive their spectacles at a later date due to lenses out-of-stock,122 were referred to the hospital to seek further attention due to other medical conditions such as cataract, glaucoma etc and 283 went home without any problems.

The Vietnam Team gave us a warm reception throughout the two days and the event which was very well organized went off without any hitch.

The LRS Team had once again accomplished a very meaningful and fruitful mission.
